Hardships and Collections Manager

Job Purpose

As the Hardships and Collections Manager, you will support the Head of Collections in managing arrears files from dishonour through to late-stage arrears and enforcement. You will also assess, recommend, approve, and manage hardship matters.

Key Accountabilities

Collections Management

  • Daily dishonour management.
  • Proactively manage arrears, defaults, and losses.
  • Assist with mid and late-stage pre and post enforcement proceedings.
  • Manage relationships with internal & external stakeholders.
  • Prepare detailed daily arrears and comprehensive hardship status reports.
  • Conduct hindsight reviews of mortgagee in possession loans.
  • Meet statutory requirements for NCCP lending.
  • Monitor and report on loan loss provisioning.
  • Manage the collections team in the absence of the Head of Credit – Collections.

Hardship Management

  • Liaise with and assess borrower hardship applications.
  • Provide training, support, and ongoing development for team members.

Customer Focus

  • Deal empathetically with borrowers during financial stress.
  • Work with stakeholders to achieve satisfactory, timely, and risk-mitigated resolutions.

Compliance

  • Support the management of internal complaints, AFCA complaints, and regulatory body complaints.
  • Assist in managing the Company’s lending operations and compliance.
  • Support periodic audit processes.

About You

  • Minimum 4-5 years of experience in residential and/or commercial property finance, hardships, and collections.
  • Proven experience in late-stage enforcement of arrears.
  • Experience with AML/CTF programs.
  • Thorough understanding of the Privacy Act and National Consumer Credit Code.
  • Well-developed relationship building and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and high degree of numeracy.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to prioritize workloads and multi-task.
  • Ability to work calmly and professionally.
  • High standard of ethics and integrity.
  • Ability to work well within a small team environment.
